By using intelligent software that monitors the check-sums of all emails that are passed through all MailSafe servers, this team is able to locate virus and spam outbreaks incredibly quickly. MailSafe's e-mail content filter identifies spam by analysing the headers, subject and text of an e-mail. Using its rule base, it performs a wide range of heuristic tests to identify spam. How does MailSafe’s Spam blocking work?

MailSafe has several spam features allowing you to manage the load of unsolicited e-mails into your organization in a number of ways. As e-mail passes through the MailSafe unit, the header, subject line, sender and content is analyzed for known patterns found in unsolicited e-mails. Each e-mail is given a "spam status score" which is added to the e-mail's header. If the score is above a value of 4 it is likely to be spam. If it is above 6 there is a very high probability that it is spam. MailSafe gives you flexible control over your junk e-mail. You can block entire domains from sending you e-mail, quarantine or add additional text to the subject line of e-mails tagged as spam, or utilize the spam status scores in each e-mail header to filter unsolicited mail in detail using other applications, such as your mail agent.
